Cannon positions at Fort at Isle aux Noix, an island in the Richelieu river in Quebec. The fort was located to protect against invasions from the south and is just a few miles north of the Vermont/New York border. Robert Flowers spent much of his time in the 29th, while in North America, stationed somewhere along the Richelieu. The remainder of his time was probably spent near Montreal, Lake Champlain, or Lake George. The river 's source is Lake Champlain and runs from south to north, evenutally emptying into the St. Lawrence near Sorel, Quebec.
