The entrance of the fort at Isle Aux Noix is reached by bridge over a moat that surrounds the entire fort. A later version of the fort was known as Fort Lennox. This entrance is near the middle of the island on the north side of the fort. During the Revolutionary War, and probably much later, the area was infested with mosquitos, and many of the men contracted Malaria, here. There is a large cemetery on the island, just north of this position. Much of the northern part of the island is a cemetery for the soldiers who served here. |
